Understanding love

It is the smallest in all the land

Light

Yet only a few can pick it up

Its language is silence

Only to be captured by the rarest kinds

Understanding

It folds in space itself and erases any distance

Exquisite beyond any measure and ordinary

A glowing gem of extraordinary

Free from pretension

Capturing light from another dimension

Treasures from chest to chest

Rest

Removed from the shallow it is said

Beyond the infrared

Love

You and I have eagerly awaited this moment of

Love

Not demanding

Glorious understanding

Passion for compassion is formed

In which we are adorned

A blooming process inwardly

Given straightforwardly

Between lovers of truth

Where words become one

& every pain once carried comes undone

Love, love, love

In it you and I will be found

Without even uttering a sound

Love

Refined we find that which is utterly true;

There is no I owe you in:

I love you

Call me a romantic, but I reckon if you understand love you don’t understand it.

    1. Thank you for your comment, and for sharing your thoughts. This poem was inspired by the following: when people disagree with one another they start to talk louder and louder and when this escalates they can start to yell really loud, but the other person is right there. Why are they yelling? Well because they do not feel understood at all and for this reason distance becomes so vast that they feel that they have to shout to be heard. In an opposite scenario two people can whisper or even communicate without even making a sound, just body language and facial expressions. They just get each other. In my poem I have added a layer, the way it would be if the love God is (in my view) erased all distance completely. A true heart-to-heart conversation.
